Its been a while since Team Millhan was a force within Division 8. They raced just enough races to stay active and didn't have a strong season. That's all about to change for the USA based team. With the announcement that Cong Yutao will be retiring on his birthday next season, management has decided to race hard up until he leaves.
Team Millhan is a climbing based team with only one true sprinter, Atalay Tezcan. His best finish for the team was a third place finish this season. The team is focused on climbing, but does take the opportunity to ride in a sprint finish that suits Tezcan.
Carlton Spears, the captain of Team Millhan had this to say when asked about the upcoming schedule. "We are excited to be racing hard. We are really starting to come together. We are still a young team, Cong and me are old, but the rest of the guys are still young. That should help us with the upcoming races. Have the young guys do more of the work and protect the old guys!"
The team is looking to race as many summit finishes as they can enter during this stretch. They are set to race in the Vrhovine Climbs, Leigh Creek Climbs and a new race from Grenoble to Col du Galibier. The manager Deac Mill wants to push his guys all the way to the end of the season. " Yeah its going to be tough. But we are not going t olet the possibility of a hard schedule change our plans. The guys are in excellent shape and are ready to race. We will be using all of our riders for the rest of the season. Trying to keep Carlton and Cong out there as much as possible without injuring them. We added Kosma who is young and eager to race so we're gonna put him to the test."
The team will be racing all season long, so get out and catch them riding to a top finish. They have set a goal of 3 wins, 5 top fives and the rest within the top 25. It is a lofty goal, but management sets goals that are reachable. Deac Mill will be on top of the health of his team, trying not to push anyone to the point of injury. With the may climbs ahead of Team Millhan everyone will have to do their job to make this season happen.
